
The Charles W. Frees, Jr. Scholarship Fund has created a scholarship program to assist employees’ children pursuing education at colleges or vocational schools.
The program is managed by Scholarship America, the largest organization in the United States that designs and administers scholarships and other educational support initiatives for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Sponsors have the sole authority to determine eligibility for their specific programs, while Scholarship America’s evaluation team reviews all eligible applications.

Scholarship Requirements
As part of your application, you must upload the following:
- A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
- Student name
- School name
- Grades
- Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
Eligibility
Applicants for the Charles W. Frees, Jr. Scholarship Program must:
- be a U.S. Citizen
- be male high school seniors or graduates from a high school in the Greater St. Louis area
- Missouri:
- St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Lincoln County, Jefferson County, Franklin County, Warren County
- Illinois:
- Madison County, Clinton County, Jersey County, St. Clair County, Monroe County
- Missouri:
- plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational school
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected based on:
- Academic record
- Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
- Work experience
- A statement of goals and aspirations
- Unusual personal or family circumstances
- An online recommendation
Financial need will be a factor in the selection process. Recipients must show that they have a financial need.
Scholarship America is responsible for selecting the recipients of the scholarships. No officer or employee of the Charles W. Frees, Jr. Scholarship Fund is involved in the selection process. Please note that not all applicants will be chosen as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the final decision.
Benefits and Awards of Scholarship
Awards can range from $1,500 to $5,000. The number of awards granted and their amounts depend on available funds and the number of eligible applications received each year.
Awards are one-time only. Past recipients may not reapply.
Awards are for undergraduate study only and may be used for any education-related expenses.
Notification
- All applicants will be notified in late May.
- If you are providing SAT or ACT scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
- One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 16, 2025, 3:00 pm Central Time.
- Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
- Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Charles W. Frees, Jr. Scholarship Fund. Payment is made in August.
