PlaceWorks Scholarship Program at California 2025

PlaceWorks has established a scholarship program to assist current undergraduate and graduate students in California who are pursuing a degree in Planning, Urban Design, Environmental Planning, or Landscape Architecture.

The program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

 Scholarship Requirements

an up-to-date, comprehensive grade transcript. Grade reports are not accepted. The student’s name must appear on transcripts.

  • Name of school Grades
  • Each course’s credit hours and the term in which it was taken are listed.

NOTE: You will need to upload a copy of your test score report or reports separately if you are giving SAT or ACT test results that are not on your high school transcript. Those scores are not necessary if you are uploading a transcript from college.
The deadline for submitting one online recommendation form on your behalf is May 1, 2025, at 3:00 PM Central Time.

Without the electronic submission of all necessary materials, your application is incomplete.

Scholarship Benefits and Awards 

The kid will get a $5,000 scholarship if they are chosen as a recipient. A maximum of two (2) prizes will be given out.

Students may reapply to the program each year they fulfill the eligibility conditions, but awards are not renewable.

Only undergraduate and graduate studies are eligible for awards.

Additionally, recipients can qualify for PlaceWorks internship opportunities.

Selection of Recipients

  • Academic history
  • Leadership qualities and involvement in school and community activities
  • Experience in the workplace
  • A list of goals and objectives for education and employment
  • Unusual familial or personal situations
  • A suggestion from the internet
  • Need for money will be taken into account. Recipients have to prove their necessity.

Scholarship America is responsible for selecting the finalists. The recipients will be chosen by PlaceWorks. Every applicant acknowledges that the decision is final.

Notification

In late May, all candidates will get notifications.

Scholarship payments

Scholarship America handles PlaceWorks’ scholarship disbursements. In August, payment is made.

Terms and condition of scholarship selection criteria 

  • Join at least one historically underrepresented group, such as but not restricted to:
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander Veterans Black or African American Hispanic or Latino American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Arab/Middle Eastern Asian Veterans
    • People with disabilities
    • First-generation college attendees
  • be Californian citizens.
  • be enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs at the present time and working toward a degree in one of the following (or similar fields):
    • Planning Architecture and/or Urban Design Environmental Planning
    • Architecture of Landscapes
    • For the duration of the next academic year, make plans to enroll in undergraduate or graduate courses, either full-time or part-time, at a California college or university that has earned accreditation.
    • Children of PlaceWorks staff are not eligible.
