Duration: Indefinite
At ESA’s Future Space Transportation Preparation department, the Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP), covers technology maturation, commercialization and ecosystem maturation for future European Space Transportation solutions.
In the Space Transportation beyond LEO team (STS-FL) specifically, you would be working multilaterally on emerging topics such as In-Space Transportation (e.g. Space Logistics, In-Space Transportation Vehicles (ISTVs), etc.), orbital re-filling, sustainability for Space Transportation (e.g. Lifecycle Assessment), Nuclear Propulsion, software-centred technologies (e.g. AI, digitalisation, digital twins, etc.) amongst other topics.

The topic of the internship: Future Space Transportation Preparation support: Commercialisation
You will work on:
- State-of-the-art Export Control rules and restrictions of European and non-European countries (e.g. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR)) and their impact on our space developments (e.g. In-Space Transportation);
- Support for defining the required approach for the standardization of interfaces for the emerging Space Logistics ecosystem;
- Support for Private-Public Partnerships for supporting the development of space infrastructures for space transportation (e.g. operational orbital propellant depot);
- Commercial and legal support across the In-Space Proof-of-Concept (InSPoC) missions.

Required Qualifications
You must be a university student, preferably in your final or second-to-last year of a university course at the Master’s level and you need to remain enrolled at your University for the entire duration of the internship.
Additional requirements
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
Knowledge and background in the following is an asset:
