The Henry O. Peabody School for Girls, operating under the will of Henry O. Peabody to carry on his progressive visions, has established a student aid program known as the Henry O. Peabody Scholarship Program.

The program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

 Scholarship Requirements

A current, complete transcript of grades is required; grade reports are not accepted. Students’ names, school names, grades, credit hours for each course, and the term in which each course was taken must all appear on the transcript.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test results and they are not on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately; if you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not needed. One online recommendation form must be completed on your behalf by April 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM Central Time. Your application is not complete unless all necessary materials are submitted electronically.

Scholarship Benefits and Awards 

Awards will range from $1,000 to $5,000 maximum. Adult learners may negotiate to use their awards for child care or other education-related expenses. Awards are renewable up to three years on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and maintaining full or part-time enrollment. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in June whether or not they have been awarded the scholarship. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Scholarship payments

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Henry O. Peabody School for Girls. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship winners are chosen based on their academic record, leadership qualities, involvement in school and community events, work experience, a statement of their educational and professional goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, an online recommendation, and a review of an additional essay.

Financial need is not considered.

Financial need will be considered in determining the size of the award. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of the Henry O. Peabody School for Girls play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Terms and condition of scholarship selection criteria 

Women attempting to acquire an independent livelihood who are graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, or women seeking to return to school Be high school seniors or graduates or current college undergraduates Plan to enroll in full-time or part-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year Applications must be a resident of Norfolk County, MA or the towns of Brockton, or Mansfield in Massachusetts Applications are especially encouraged from women who are: Planning to attend a vocational-technical school Women returning to the workforce hoping to become economically self-sufficient Receiving Aid to Families with Dependent Children
