Duration: Indefinite
We ensure the maintenance in operational conditions of ESA-owned engine test facilities operated by the industry and the public sector and set up and manage the corresponding contracts with the different operators.
Candidates interested are encouraged to visit the ESA website: http://www.esa.int.
Field(s) of activity for the internship
The topic of the internship: Propulsion Test Facilities: Fluid characteristics sheet after having been introduced to the functionalities of a propulsion test bench, you will take care of the following deliverables,
- A fluidic database;
- Teaching & Support of the team in using the 3D printer of the department;
- Teaching & Support the team and the Test Bench Operators in the use of the 3D Scanner.
Fluidic database:
Propulsion tests are performed with different fluids. To quickly assess fluid conditions in the FGSE (Fluid Ground Support Equipment) of the test bench a database shall be prepared.
This database shall include parameters like viscosity, fluid status (gaseous, liquid), density, heat conductivity, vapour pressure, mass, etc and shall cover at least the following fluids (GN2, GOX, LH2, LOX, GHE, LHE, LCH4, GCH4, Kerosene, H2O2) under different temperature and pressure conditions.
Teaching & Support:
The Test Facilities and Services Section will also start FGSE rental. To do so, new equipment will have to be mastered and users will have to be introduced to these equipment.
You will prepare:
- User Manuals for Soft and Hardware;
- Teaching Supports (PowerPoint slides);
- Training material (training mock-ups).
Required Qualifications
You must be a university student, preferably in your final or second-to-last year of a university course at the Master’s level and you need to remain enrolled at your University for the entire duration of the internship.
